I guess I'll introduce myself here. I run a free speech/conspiracy/alternate board called amkon.net and found knot4prophet via a search. Both boards seem to hold similar values, and I thought I'd check this place out, and say hello.

So...What up?

Hello Skunk. Glad you made it.

Yes I saw you had joined the forum here, and I checked your email address domain and found your site and joined your forum as well. Also, I found the thread you began on your forum where you say you googled "free speech forums" and found this one, among them.

I'll be reading through your forum a little more closely when I have some time.

Nice to see other free speech forums out there. (I also went through the list of other free speech forums you listed, perfunctorily).

Cheers.

A few of the boards I thought had promise were inactive and/or covered with bots. The 'hip forums' deleted my introduction page, presumably because I have amkon in the title. Takes you to invalid thread specified page, here's the cached.

So hip forums doesn't like people advertising, I should have known that before bla. So much for free speech.

Yeah, I've had similar experiences. Many forums offer "open discussion" but "respect" and "standards" are soon applied as soon as some administrator feels offended.

You want respect? Earn it.
Standards? - whose, mine or yours? Etc.

I don't mind someone plugging their own website at all, but as you noticed, I do filter through anyone attempting to join, because of the large volume of bots and petty porn site and viagra advertisers, who would love to fill the forum with advertising spam. This forum is for discussions, not advertising, which I assume your forum also adheres to.

Incidentally, I noticed that my signature on your forum (containing a link back to this website) doesn't show up on the thread I posted on under my post, though I can see other people's signatures. Not sure why.

Your signature will only show up on posts you've made AFTER you're turned your signature on- it won't show up on older posts for some reason. So your next post it should be visible.

I don't like people coming to amkon and spamming either, but we do have a spam/member advertisement subforum for that shit anyway. I just move all the bots to that thread, and the members can advertise their sites or whatever they wanna do.

I try to do as little work as possible to be honest.

Our "lack of moderation" grew more out of laziness than anything else. Sure we all hated being "moderated" at other forums ourselves, but really it just became about doing the least amount of work.

Not moderating, or moderating hardly at all (moving threads, adding spoilers, resetting people's passwords for them) is the way to go.

Lol. No, I've intentionally limited the time people can edit their posts, to 10 or 15 minutes, because in the past I've had people who got upset with me, and came and deleted all their posts, leaving some threads making no sense. Also, people cannot attempt to change what they've said in an argument. I figured if you really need to edit a post, you can just post the correction, in a new post.

My lack of moderation also includes laziness, but mostly it's because I want to speak freely, and not being a hypocrite, I allow others the same. But if I lacked such a principle, I probably wouldn't host a forum with rules at all, because I'm just too lazy to give a fuck.

Even the average spod or your incurable gobshite could go to that place of yours and stiff the members good and proper. Are you just here for the plug, mate?
