The US political landscape has reduced itself to an "us and them." Both of the major parties have moved towards the center in order to exploit the moderates in each party. But as the Democrats spread their political legs to accommodate the Right, they also become it. The converse is also true. The result is a bland homogeneity of policy that perpetuates the status quo.
There aren't only two political ideologies in America but the dual party system forces people to maintain it. If you want to unseat an incumbent party the logical alternative in a system dominated by two parties is to vote for the opposing party. Any votes cast toward Independents splits the opposition to incumbents which only favours the incumbents.
What Americans ought to do is read their fucking Constitution and Bill of Rights and realize what were their original intentions. Surely it wasn't to dismantle the Bill of Rights and Constitution in favour of "national security."
"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Benjamin Franklin
Agreed.
