I've had to institute this policy recently because of the massive influx of bots joining the forum, which is typical of almost any forum on the net, once the search engines begin to index the site. Because there is no way to stem the tide of bots from joining, and because of the inordinate amount of time that would need to be spent (by me) deleting bot posts of links to advertising/porn etc, I cannot allow for instant activation of any members.
